The Lord sends poverty and wealth; He humbles and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust And lifts the needy from the ash heap; He seats them with princes And has them inherit a throne of honor. “For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; On them he has set the world. He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, But the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness.

“It is not by strength that one prevails; Those who oppose the Lord will be broken. The Most High will thunder from heaven; The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. “He will give strength to his king And exalt the horn of his anointed.”

Prayer of Jabez (1Chronicles 4:10): Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

Hezekiah’s Prayer (2Kings 19:15-19): And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord: “Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Give ear, Lord, and hear; open your eyes, Lord, and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to ridicule the living God.

“It is true, Lord, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste these nations and their lands. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands. Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.”

Solomon’s Prayer for Wisdom (1 Kings 3:7-9) and Dedication of the Temple (1 Kings 8:22-53): “Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David.
